Roughly 30 million adults in the United States acquire chronic sinusitis each year, making it more common than any other chronic condition. Nasal congestion, ear fullness, facial/sinus pressure, and mucous drainage are some of the symptoms associated with chronic sinusitis. A large percentage of patients with chronic sinusitis are also found to have “allergies” on allergy testing. At Ruby Valley ENT we have the expertise to evaluate and treat your chronic sinusitis and allergy problem as a whole to give you better results.
These symptoms can have a lot of overlap with other non-sinus related diagnoses such as allergic rhinitis, migraine headaches, temporal mandibular joint dysfunction, and reflux laryngitis. This can create a very confusing scenario for someone suffering from any two of these symptoms. Furthermore, over the past few years, the treatment of chronic and recurrent sinus infections has become very diverse and extensive. Some of these treatments can include topical nebulized antibiotics and steroids, steroid eluting stents, stereotactic endoscopic sinus surgery, and in-office balloon sinuplasty.
At Ruby Valley ENT we can perform many of the diagnostics tests in our office to help establish the diagnosis to clear up the confusion. Dr. Gull will then discuss with you the treatment options that best fit your condition. Not all patients diagnosed with sinusitis need traditional sinus surgery, and others that need sinus surgery may not be able to tolerate having general anesthesia required to have surgery. In these instances, we are able to offer less invasive ways of surgically addressing your sinus blockage through in-office balloon sinuplasty.
